Daycare worker charged with child abuse

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A worker at a daycare in North Chattanooga has been charged with aggravated child abuse.

The charges stem from incidents with two students on April 19th.

The owner of the daycare told police she saw Aukeera Tellis grab one of the children.

Police checked a surveillance video of the incident.

They say it showed her grabbing a child by the arm, lifting it off the ground and then slamming the child onto a bed.

The owner says she has fired Tellis and reported the incident to the child abuse hotline.
