Details on hazardous materials spill in a Chattanooga neighorhood
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Fire officials are releasing details from a hazardous materials incident over the weekend.
On Friday night, Chattanooga firefighters were called to a neighborhood in the 1700 block of South Highland Park Avenue, a couple of blocks off of Main Street.
There were a total of 19 drums dumped in the area, leaking an unknown fluid.
The fluid had leaked into a pair a neighboring yards.
Environmental cleanup crews were called to the scene.
They confined the spill over the next 12 hours and made sure there was no threat to the surrounding neighbors.
Chattanooga Police are investigating how it happened. They have not released just what the chemical was.
