Chattanooga Mocs Open Spring Football Practice

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Chattanooga Mocs opened spring practice Monday.
Of course this time last year, they were playing actual games in the spring.
Now they get to enjoy a normal spring campaign.

With no game plans on the horizon…spring practice allows the Mocs to enhance some strengths and correct some weaknesses.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”We were really good defensively last year inside the Red Zone. We’ve got to do some things better offensively. Guys understanding the field is shorter. It’s shorter than it is long. Just figuring out and understanding the nuances of playing in tighter spaces.”
The Mocs lost some key members on the offensive line, including Cole Strange, who should be an NFL draft pick.
Said offensive lineman Colin Truett:”His journey to the NFL. I think that’s really inspiring all of us to work harder and do those things because you see where hard work can get you. We’ve got a lot of good talented guys on the offensive line that are still developing. Our running back room is awesome. I think we have the best running back room in the country.”
Mocs appear stable at running back, but other skill positions may need some work.
Said Wright:”Well yeah. We’ve got all these young wide-outs that have got to go play. (chuckles) It’s different with that group when they’re young. We’ve got to find a couple of safeties that can help us and do some things. I like the guys. The way those guys have worked back there. Just won’t have anybody back there that has played a lot of snaps.”
