Man pleads guilty to “horrifying” child pornography and abuse case
Prosecutor calls it one of the worst he's seen in a 30 year career
RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) – A suspect pleaded guilty this week to molesting a female relative, avoiding the need for her to testify in the case.
He gets a 25 year prison sentence in the deal.
Prosecutors say 39 year old George Anderson had abused the victim for several years.
When Catoosa County and Homeland Security investigators searched his home, they say they found 50,000 images and videos of child pornography.
The images included a variety of sex acts with the female relative.
Prosecutors Chris Arnt calls this one of the most horrific cases he has ever worked.
“This child abuser deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. We agreed to this sentence to spare this little girl from having to come to court and relive this abuse when she is already struggling mightily to try and rebuild her life.”
The guilty plea also spares a jury from seeing the videos.
But that didn’t save investigators.
“These cases take a tremendous toll on those of us who work on them. The Detectives, the CAC interviewer, the victim advocates and the prosecutor are all deeply disturbed by them.”
The family was consulted and approved the plea deal.
“We are finally relieved that the predator is off the streets. We believe that justice was somewhat served but it’s never enough for the trauma that has hit our family. We would like to thank the detectives, officers, investigators, counselors, district attorney’s staff, and everyone who has walked us through the process and the continuous healing of our family.”
