Manhunt for two armed and dangerous men

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY (WDEF) Sequatchie County Deputies were dispatched to Big Fork Road on Signal Mountain in Sequatchie County on Saturday aruond six in the morning.

They were advised that there was a stolen vehicle parked at the end of the road. The vehicle had been entered as stolen by the Chattanooga Police Department in the early morning hours.

Upon arrival, the deputies observed a male and female at the vehicle, at which time the male subject fled on foot.

The female, identified as Shauna Lauren Tate, 23 of Dunlap, was immediately taken into custody and charged with Theft of Property Over $1,000 and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She is currently being held in the Sequatchie County Jail without bond.

Officers initiated a search for the male subject, Samuel Elliot Westerfield, 21 of Winchester.

Westerfield was last seen at a residence near the Big Fork area, where he did pull a handgun on the homeowner, before fleeing again into the woods.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search with a K-9 unit, but the K-9 track went cold. Officers then received a call that Cody Scott Johnson, 22 of Signal Mountain, had stolen his grandmother’s 2011 maroon Nissan 4-door sedan, displaying Tennessee tag 595 CNY.

Officers believe that Westerfield was picked up by Johnson, and that they are still near the Signal Mountain area. Charges are pending for Westerfield for Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Theft of Property Over $1,000, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of a Prohibited weapon by a Convicted Felon, Charges are also pending for Johnson for Theft of Property Over $10,000.

Both subjects are believed to be armed and should be considered extremely dangerous.
