Judge reduces charges against daycare worker charged with abuse

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The former daycare worker accused of abusing children had her charges reduced today.

Aukeera Tellis is accused of abusing two children at First Step Daycare in April.

She initially faced two counts of aggravated child abuse.

Today the judge reduced her charges from two class A felonies to two class D felonies.

Prosecutors say while her actions could have resulted in serious bodily harm, they didn’t.

Her bond was also lowered.

Tellis was ordered to stay away from daycare centers until the case is resolved.
