Why are new cars so expensive in Chattanooga?
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A study from I-SEE-CARS-DOT-COM says that the average cost of a new car in Chattanooga is 13% over M-S-R-P.
According to the study, the price hike is a result of supply chain issues from the ongoing microchip shortage.
The vehicle with the highest markup in Chattanooga is the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, whose price is more than 11 thousand dollars higher than M-S-R-P.
Karl Brauer is an Executive Analyst at iseecars.com.
He tells us “There’s been this microchip shortage, globally, which has constricted new car supply. And so, if there’s just not enough cars on the lot when you go to buy a new car, whatever cars are there are going for that much more money.”
In Chattanooga, the Jeep gladiator and Ford F-150 are both more than ten thousand dollars more expensive than M-S-R-P.
Across the board, Chattanooga vehicles are marked up an average of forty-four hundred dollars.
