Chattanooga Tourist Mugged, Beat Up Downtown
A mugging that happened over the weekend makes Chattanooga residents question just how safe they are in the popular area.
Chattanooga Police tell us it happened around 10:00 on Carter Street Sunday night.
A witness says the victim showed up to his nearby hotel covered in blood, coming from a popular Market Street restaurant.
The victim told them a group of young men jumped him from behind, beat him up, and stole his wallet.
"Maybe other parts of Chattanooga it would be more more something to expect but not downtown," said local resident Kris Orr.
"This is the Southside area kind of just businesses everywhere. I’m really surprised to hear something like that happened in this part of Chattanooga," said resident Rashad Gober.
