Army recruits celebrate anniversary with Fallen Five tribute

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Today is the Army’s 243rd birthday.

And as a part of the celebration recruits went for a run near Ross’s Landing.

At the end of the run they paused for a moment of silence to honor the Fallen 5, before having 5 recruits pick up sacks to carry the load for their 5 fallen brothers.

SSG David Closen says “We are in the Chattanooga community and Chattanooga is a big military community and like I said we are not just 1 branch we are all branches and we believe in taking care of our fallen comrades.”

This mornings run was about a mile long with 7 stops for different Army values and exercises.
