Vols Coach Josh Heupel Joins Big Orange Caravan Stop in Chattanooga

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Big Orange Caravan Rides again.
It was back on the streets for the first time in four years.
First tour stop was Chattanooga with Big Orange coach Josh Heupel on board.

All those Orange and White balloons suggest a party.
And it felt like a party tor Coach Heupel.
Meeting so many Vols fans on the caravan stop.
Said Heupel:”I’ve been to a lot of different places. The passion from our fan base is unsurpassed anywhere in college sports. As a head coach an opportunity to come out here and see the building and have the interaction with our fan base. It just continues to showcase that.”
Heupel didn’t get to showcase the Vols with a spring game due to construction at Neyland Stadium. But he says that’s a small price to pay for what the renovations will mean for the program.
Said Heupel:”You know there’s a 100-million-dollars in construction going on inside of our stadium. A 30 plus million dollar project going on to our current facility. Recruits get an opportunity to see that too. There’s a ton of excitement that’s built inside of our program for recruits that are coming on campus, and ultimately I think that will play big dividends for us in recruiting.”
And just like last year, Tennessee will open the season in the national spotlight on a Thursday night as they host Ball State.
Said Heupel:”Yeah I think it’s a chance again for us to brand ourselves in front of the entire country. Guarantees us a night game in the month of September. I think that’s big for our fans too.”
Heupel knows his team still faces some needs in his second season, but at least he has a talented quarterback returning in Hendon Hooker.
Said

Heupel:”I think Hendon coming back is big for our program. We have somebody that has taken a lot of quality reps. Played the position at a really high level. Has things that he has been working on through spring ball that we’re able to see him improve upon.”
