Red Wolves drop home match to FC Tucson
EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (Press Release) — The Red Wolves welcomed FC Tucson to CHI Memorial Stadium Saturday night for their fourth game of the season as they looked to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign currently sitting atop the USL League One standings. The match was played in front of a staggering sellout crowd of 2,654 fans marking the second sellout crowd of the season, quickly establishing CHI Memorial Stadium as one of the best atmospheres in USL League One.
The game began brightly for the Red Wolves as Moe Espinoza played a brilliant ball into the box and Jimmie Villalobos finished with aplomb to make it 1-0 to the Red Wolves.
The second half would start with the introduction of David Texeira as the Red Wolves looked to bolster their attack and add to their lead. Tucson would find the equalizer ten minutes later, as Luca Mastrantonio headed a Louis Perez corner to make it 1-1. Seven minutes later the Red Wolves would find the lead once again, as Moe Espinoza played a great ball to Rafa Mentzingen who made no mistake to put the hosts back up 2-1.
FC Tucson would find the equalizer in the 71st minute, as Perez scored from outside the box to make it 2-2. Then in the 90th minute, FC Tucson would win a penalty and convert to take their first lead of the match. The Red Wolves would push hard late for an equalizer but not find one, as the home side dropped their first match of the season.
The Red Wolves next match is Friday, April 29th at 7 p.m. as the squad travels to Greenville to take on the Greenville Triumph.
