Vols Basketball Picked to Finish Next-to-Last in the SEC

CHARLOTTE – The Southeastern Conference announced its 2014-15 men’s basketball preseason SEC poll Wednesday, and Tennessee was predicted to finish 13th in the league standings. The voting panel included both SEC and national media members.

The Volunteers embark on their inaugural season under new head coach Donnie Tyndall with a completely revamped roster that includes a program-record nine newcomers and just four scholarship returnees. Only one Tennessee player—senior guard Josh Richardson—has ever scored in double figures in an SEC game.

For the first time since 2011, no Vols were named to the preseason All-SEC Team.

Kentucky was the media’s choice to win the 2015 SEC championship. The Wildcats received all 20 first-place votes.

Points were compiled on a 14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis. Each media member also voted for a five-player All-SEC Team.

The 2014-15 regular-season campaign begins Nov. 14, with conference play set to begin Jan. 6. The 2015 SEC Tournament takes place March 11-15 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
