Craine Helps Mocs Grind Out Win Over Mercer
When the Chattanooga Mocs needed to run out the clock on a 38-31 win over Mercer, many might have been surprised to see Derrick Craine carry the load over the final two minutes.
Craine rushed for 53 hard earned yards on 13 carries, but 27 of those came in the fourth quarter. Craine also picked up two big first downs to keep the ball out of Mercers’ hands until the very end.
"He is solid. Breaks tackles makes the right cuts, hangs on to the football and catches the football when it is thrown to him, about as solid as they get. I’m proud of him," said Mocs head coach Russ Huesman. Craine says being the offensive closer for the Mocs in the final minutes is a role he relishes. "It’s a big role for me and a big role for this team. Being able to close out a game offensively is huge. Its really fun to come out there and end the game on the offensive side."
