Chattanooga Red Wolves Rally to Beat South Georgia Tormenta 2-1

(Red Wolves press release) CHATTANOOGA, TN. (August 20th, 2022) – The Red Wolves were back in action on Saturday night as they
welcomed South Georgia Tormenta FC to CHI Memorial Stadium.

The Red Wolves were put on the back foot in the 8th minute as the visitors opened the scoring.
Tormenta broke in numbers with Adrian Billhardt playing the ball across the box for Kingsford Adjei who
cut in on his right foot and fired into the near post to put Tormenta up 0-1. In the 12th minute Timmy
Mehl nearly brought the Red Wolves level, as he connected brilliantly with his header off a corner, but
his effort blazed just over the crossbar.

DJ Benton would be the next to put an effort on goal as the Red Wolves mounted the pressure, lashing a
wicked effort from outside the box that was saved well by the Tormenta goalkeeper. Mehl nearly scored
again in the 25th minute, once again getting a strong header towards goal from a Jose Carrera-Garcia
cross, with his effort once again blazing over the bar.

The Red Wolves would continue to amp up the pressure as the half progressed with Rafa Mentzingen
nearly leveling the scoreline with a beautiful effort from outside the box that was saved well. The hosts
would finally get a well deserved goal in first half stoppage time, as a fantastic free kick from Moe
Espinoza was barely saved. Despite the save, Juan ‘Galigol’ Galindrez was on hand to tap home the
rebound for his 10th goal of the season to level the score heading into the break.

Just on the other side of halftime Moe Espinoza would strike the crossbar on another gem of a free kick,
but once again be denied a goal. Espinoza would continue to be a force on the match, drawing a penalty
from the Tormenta keeper in the 51st minute. Galindrez would step up to take the penalty but his effort
was saved to keep the score 1-1.
