Head of the Hooch Gets Underway
It’s the largest single site rowing regatta in the United States.
The event has actually doubled in size since it came here ten years ago.
Participants will race 3.2 miles down the Tennessee River.
The event starts Saturday and wraps up on Sunday.
Organizers say it’s not hard to get in on the action.
Doug Beville, Assistant Regatta Director of Head of the Hooch, adds, "There’s a lot of activity right here around the waterfront. Another great place to watch the Head of the Hooch from is the Walnut Street Bridge or really anywhere on the Riverwalk between Ross’s Landing up past the Boathouse Restaurant. All that is good viewing for Head of the Hooch."
People from more than 30 states and four foreign countries are participating.
The event is free to the public.
