Walnut Street Boutique Hotel Gets Approval From Chattanooga City Council

CHATTANOOGA,TN, (WDEF)-Mitch Patel has spent the past two decades owning and operating hotels across America but says he’s glad to now bring a boutique hotel to his hometown.

"Approval from the Chattanooga City Council yesterday from the current zoning to C3 that will allow us to this high end boutique hotel concept that we have been working on for the past couple of years."

Plans have already been drawn up for the five story building which will be located beside the Walnut Street bridge across from the Hunter Museum.

"Our goal is to start construction sometime late summer of 2015 and open the hotel late summer or early fall of 2016" added Patel.

The hotel will have outside dining and also focus heavily on showcasing local history, art and design.

City Council’s Chris Anderson says the addition of a boutique hotel in downtown Chattanooga will spur the local economy on further and be an icon for the area.

"Mr Patel is going to provide at least 110 off street parking spaces so there won’t be any negative impact for the residents and their parking and he is also committing to building a high end boutique hotel so they know what the use is before he even breaks ground."

Patel added that Blackberry Farms in the Smoky Mountains is the only Condé Nast award-winning hotel in the Volunteer State and he aims to make his Chattanooga location equally as celebrated on a national stage.

Vision hospitality group, who is behind the venture, also run boutique hotels in Houston, Chicago and across the south.
