NTSB Preliminary Report on the propeller accident in Cleveland
WASHINGTON D.C. (WDEF) – The National Transportation Safety Board has filed a preliminary report on the death of a pilot at the Cleveland Regional Jetport a few weeks ago.
The Florida pilot was killed by the propeller of his own plane during a preflight inspection.
He and his wife had flown in earlier in the day.
After landing, they performed some errands and returned to the airport for the flight back home.
The pilot’s wife said she heard the propeller move and the engine try to turn over while he was doing the preflight inspection, which shouldn’t have happened.
She says the ignition key was still in his pocket when it happened.
Investigators took the switch and key for testing.
That will be part of the final report on what went wrong.
