Jury finds Tyrone Murphy guilty of murder

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – A jury found Tyrone Murphy guilty of first degree murder on Friday.

The court sentenced him to life in prison.

Closing arguments were presented before a jury began deliberating.

Murphy was on trial for the stabbing death of 30-year-old Ashley Cates.

Cates was found with multiple stab wounds at her Bailey Avenue apartment in June of 2017.
