A New Twist on Existing Tech is the Katalyst for your New Years Resolutions
Smart Technology suit helps people improve health and wellness
CHATTANOOGA, TN – Was your new years resolution to get in better shape and maybe work or life in general got in the way?
Well, you’re in luck. We have the head personal trainer from a new company called Katalyst that is going to show you how their new twist on some existing tech can help you hit those new years resolutions, at home OR if you have to travel for work.
Max Graeber is the head trainer for Katalyst. Max is a former professional soccer player and fitness expert. He’s helped people of all levels around the globe recover from injury, and improve performance and overall health.
“Katalyst is full body EMS training. EMS Stands for electric muscle stimulation. So you’re wearing a full body suit as you probably saw it already online on our website. It’s like a black nice suit, very sleek very light. You have all different pads, electric pads on all major muscle groups where we’re sending electric impulse thru to really target the special muscle group” says Graeber. “That means we are contracting in some of the training modes the entire muscles which are causing then a resistance. So compared to conventional training, normally in conventional training you’re engaging up to 40% to 50% of the fibers in just one muscle group. Now with the external impulse on top of it you’re engaging up to 90 percent of the muscle fibers. So the recruitment doubles while you’re working out in the suit. Here’s the beauty with no strain on any joints. That means we don’t use any weights, no rubber bands that means all the old injuries, shoulder problems, tennis elbow, or the hip injury doesn’t matter anymore because you’re literally working against your own muscle fibers and muscle tissues.”
The workout can be completed in 20 minutes. The technology stimulates all muscles groups instead of traditional workouts where you take breaks, or have to wait on your machine. When compared to traditional workouts, the time under tension is more than double what it would be in a normal strength training session. The suit stimulates all major muscle groups simultaneously, and you won’t be interrupted by someone asking to use the dumbells you just picked up. The suit also trains fast twitch and slow twitch fibers which is a high-tech way of saying it trains for muscle growth or hypertrophy and muscle agility. The suit can also help get rid of the long cardio sessions, and help with recovery.
“So everything is guided by video almost like pelaton. So you don’t need a trainer and you don’t need a guide at home which is normally very expensive.”
The app which is currently available for apple and IOS users, tracks progress and is always updated. So like any good training program it helps you track progress so you can use it as a supplement to your current training program or it can be a standalone. It’s even compact enough that you can travel with it and it folds up to about the size of a pair of dress pants and weighs less than three pounds. Now you don’t have to look for a gym because you can use it in just about any space.
“Of course, the biggest thing for the at home usage. SO we are the only FDA cleared EMS full body EMS device for at home use,” says Max. “I’m always calling it the pelaton version of EMS training so because it’s FDA cleared, electric muscle stimulation is considered a medical device.”
According to their website you can even use your HSA or FSA cards to help pay for the device. That will obviously vary by insurance company so make sure you clear it with them as well. For more information about Katalyst you can visit their website.
