Aaron Nance Takes Over at East Hamilton Looking to Maintain ‘Canes Recent Success
East Hamilton debuts a new head coach this fall in Aaron Nance.
He takes over a program that’s an annual playoff contender.
The Hurricanes storm into the 30-in-30 spotlight.
Aaron Nance is a Soddy Daisy graduate, so getting the head job at East Hamilton feels kind of like a homecoming.
Said Nance:”Oh everything is going good. The kids have been great. The community has really accepted my family well. We’re really kind of settling in this summer.”
And how are the East Ham players adapting to their new head coach?
Said receiver Kireese Willis:”It’s new. It’s always something to adjust to because I’ve had the same coaches for the past three years, but Nance coming in. New coach. He has really helped us adjust well.”
Said Nance:”It’s obviously different. All new coaching staff. There’s one guy from last year’s staff that stayed. Gerald Jones. Defensive coordinator, but everybody else is new coaches. So just instilling our new expectations and our goals and our kids are really buying into that.”
Perhaps the first order of business for Nance, replacing Juan Bullard, who was the canes touchdown scoring machine last season.
Said Nance:”The big thing this year has been just a group effort. It’s going to be by committee how we replace all that offensive production from Juan Bullard. It’s definitely big shoes to fill, but we feel good about the guys that we have here in our locker room.”
Kireese Willis should touch the ball a bunch.
He’s a receiver-defensive back with a 75 inch wing span…yeah they measured it.
Now the ‘Canes hope to measure up to their recent success.
Said Willis:”We just build on the intensity in practice because he knows. Coach coming in knows how far we went and how hard we need to go to get back to where we need to be. Even further.”
