Access to Blue Hole will close March 23

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) says a construction project at North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park will close both the main parking area and access to the Blue Hole for approximately a year, beginning Monday, March 23, 2026.

They say there are no safe ways to visit the Blue Hole while this is happening, and anyone who attempts to violate the closure could face legal action.

Other park locations, including Flipper Bend or Barker Camp, have limited parking, so they are asking individuals to carpool.

They say the terrain at these locations can be challenging to navigate, so come prepared and know your physical limitations.

The HCSO also reminds individuals to never park on the side of the road or in non-designated areas.
