Affordable Housing Fair Launches Home Buyer Program
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The city of Chattanooga held an affordable housing fair this evening.
It was held at the Glenwood Community Center in conjunction with the Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise.
The event launched the city’s first-time home buyer grant and loan program.
This program will allow those making or below 100 percent the area median income to qualify for zero percent interest loans and small grants.
Martina Guilfoil, the President/CEO of the Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise, said, “I think people realize rent is going up so if they can, they’re better off to buy a home, and a program like this gets people motivated to think about how I get on the road to home ownership. So even if somebody is not ready today or tomorrow because of their credit, we can help them create a path so in a year or however long it takes, they can buy one.”
There additionally was a panel at the fair.
If you weren’t able to make the event, the Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise has resources online to get you connected with the program.
The city of Chattanooga plans to unveil a long-term plan to fight affordable housing next month.
