Airbnb reports Chattanooga is 3rd highest home sharing market in Tennessee
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Airbnb reports that Chattanoogans are jumping on board with the home sharing industry.
The company says 24,600 people stayed in Airbnb homes in the city in 2016.
They say the home sharing community here tripled to 300 people last year.
Most are renting out their main home, while a third are sharing and extra, unused room (empty nesters for example.)
Airbnb reports their average Chattanooga host makes $5,300 a year in supplemental income, renting less than once a week.
Chattanooga ranks third in the state behind Nashville and Memphis.
Lookout Mountain ranked 9th in the state, while Signal Mountain placed 18th.
