Alabama health officials clear water park to reopen

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) – Alabama health officials say a water park in Blount County that was temporarily closed following reports of contamination is cleared to reopen.

WHNT News reports the park is set to reopen Saturday. A notice on the park’s Facebook page also confirmed they were opening Saturday.

The station says park management voluntarily closed August 14 following reports contamination may have been present in its pool.

The Alabama Department of Public Health said the park took steps to hyperchlorinate the water in an acceptable manner and has been measuring the chlorine content on consecutive days in various places in the pool.

Lem Burell, a local public health official, says they do not believe the park presents a health concern.

The closure followed reports from people who visited the park in July.
