Montgomery, AL (WDEF) – Alabama State senators could vote on a cigarette tax and other revenue bills as lawmakers continue to negotiate over how to handle a budget shortfall.
The Alabama Legislature got back to work Monday in a special session to write the budget.
Senators could vote on a House-passed bill that would put a $0.25 per-pack tax on cigarettes.
The state faces a $200-million shortfall.
