He faces 16 felony charges for breaking into several vehicles at this location.

The sheriff’s office suspects Harris may have also committed the same crimes in Jackson and Marshall Counties.

Currently, he faces the following charges:

  • Theft of property 3rd – 8 counts.
  • Breaking/Entering vehicle – 4 counts.
  • Illegal possession of credit/debit card – 4 counts.

Police are still investigating and expect more charges to come.

The DeKalb County Detention Center is holding Harris on a $70,000 bond.

“When enjoying natural swimming areas in Alabama please consider leaving personal items at home or take them with you to the area you plan to enjoy,” said Sheriff Welden. “Criminals look for easy targets and unattended vehicles are at the top of the list.”

Matheny’s Bridge is near the DeKalb and Jackson County line in Alabama and crosses over a creek. It’s a popular spot with many rumors of it being haunted.
