Alabama man arrested for trafficking meth, fentanyl
IDER, Ala. (WDEF) — Narcotics agents in DeKalb County, Alabama arrested a man for trafficking meth and fentanyl.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the agents conducted a traffic stop on Highway 75 at Frankies Service Station.
They said that during the stop, the driver fled on foot and left the passenger in the vehicle.
The sheriff’s office said they arrested the passenger but were unable to find the driver.
They identified the passenger as 49-year-old Scott William Haldane. Authorities said Haldane was out on bond for prior drug trafficking charges.
Deputies charged Haldane with two counts of trafficking in any illegal drug, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
DeKalb authorities said they found more than 60 grams of meth, six grams of crack cocaine and seven grams of powder fentanyl in the car.
“Drug addiction destroys not only the addict, but also the ones who love them,” Sheriff Nick Welden said. “Our goal is to stop it before it starts and that is why our Agents are out continuously working diligently in an attempt to keep these dangerous drugs off the streets and out of the hands of our youth.”
