Alzheimer’s Association provides Winter Tips for Caregivers

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Alzheimer’s Association is providing winter safety tips for caregivers.

They believe it is critical to keeping their loved ones safe all-year-round, but especially during the winter months.

Be prepared for winter weather, bundle up and be aware of slips.

“Watch the weather forecast. don’t go out, don’t take your loved one out, unless you absolutely have to. doctor’s appointments can be rescheduled. i know that’s a hard thing, but safety is always first and foremost, taking care of yourself first, taking care of your loved one, making sure that everything is safe,” said Amy French, Alzheimer’s Association

As we face colder weather and harsher conditions, the Alzheimer association says caregivers must monitor patients that are at risk of wandering.

Alzheimer’s Association encourage caregivers to reach  out to their 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900
