Animal Shelters offer discount adoptions through midnight
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A lot a dogs and cats in Chattanooga will bed spending the holidays at the Humane Educational Society or the McKamey Shelter.
They will, unless tonight’s open house is able to find a new home for 120 animals.
The two shelters do this every Christmas season and they’ve had good luck in finding new homes for many of them.
The fees have been cut at both shelters to 12-dollars for cats and 24 dollars for dogs .
HES Executive Director Bob Citrullo tells us “we shoot for goals that are over a hundred each year, and that’s what we’re looking to do. But out our goal is to get as many animals out of the shelter and into a really loving forever home. And you know, get them to where they are safe and sound. We have so many animals so our facilities are very full. It’s nothing new to us. It’s one thing we have done for several years now…its very successful.”
You can also keep a shelter animal with you and your family for the holidays.
Ask about that program.
The McKamey and Humane Society shelters are open until midnight tonight.
But HES has extended their discounts through the weekend.
“Saturday 11 am to 5 pm and Sunday 12pm to 4 pm a dog can be adopted for $24 and cats for $12. All adoptions include spay or neuter surgery, all age appropriate vaccines, a microchip and unconditional love. ”
