Annual Heart Walk in Chattanooga is a Huge Success
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The 2015 Tennessee Valley Heart Walk kicked off today, raising money and awareness in support of the American Heart and American Stroke Association.
More than 3,000 people stopped by AT&T Field for the walk, to celebrate a year of fundraising, exercise, and healthy living and lifestyle changes. It’s the one time of year the American Heart and Stroke Association come together, and this year alone both organizations raised more than $240,000 for heart disease prevention.
"This is just really an event that everybody can do," said Heart Walk director, Charlie Haddock, "You have everywhere from your Presidents and CEOs all the way down to just volunteers and people that are retired coming out."
Tents were also set up offering information about heart disease, and the early signs of stroke. Heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of Americans.
