Annual Salvation Army Battle of the Bells at Hamilton Place Mall

UPDATE (December 18):

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Salvation Army has announced the results of the 2023 Battle of the Bells competition.

News 12 came in second place in the competition, having raised a total of $1,028.57.

This year’s competition is the seventh annual Battle of the Bells, which took place at Hamilton Place Mall on December 14.

The three Chattanooga TV stations raised a total of $3,733.91.

“This support goes a long way in bringing hope and joy to families during the holiday season and throughout the year,” said Salvation Army Area Commander, Major Douglas McClure.

Though the competition is over, volunteers will still be stationed at retail stores with their Red Kettles until Saturday, December 23. Volunteer to be a bell ringer here.

According to The Salvation Army, all Red Kettle donations stay local. They use these funds to feed the hungry through their cafe and food pantry, support the Angel Tree program, provide for at-risk youth programs, and give emergency financial aid to those at risk of becoming homeless.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Thursday is the day of the annual Salvation Army Battle of the Bells!

News 12 is competing against other local television stations in our area to see who can raise the most money for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Drive.

The event is December 14, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Hamilton Place Mall.

This year, News 12’s donation location is at the entrance between Jos. A. Bank and Party Fowl.

The Battle of the Bells competition will continue online until Sunday, December 17.

Last year, the Battle of the Bells raised more than $4,000 for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Drive.
