Another Week of Lower Gas Prices

Chattanooga (WDEF) – The drop of oil prices continues to hit gas pumps in our area.

Gas dropped an average of 7 cents a gallon nationally last week.

And four cents in Tennessee and Georgia, according to Triple A’s Fuel Gauge report.

AAA spokesman Josh Carrasco says "After Labor Day we normally see a drop in gasoline demand as we head out of the busy summer driving season. A decline in demand, refineries switching to winter-blend fuels and falling oil prices should cause a continued drop in price of gas. If there are no major supply disruptions, we could see some stations in the southeast selling $2 a gallon gas this fall.”

This week, we’ve got more than a dozen stations already breaking the $2 barrier in our area.

Here is a list from GasBuddy.com

$1.96 4 locations in Ooltewah
$1.96 3 locations in Cleveland
$1.99 5 locations in Athens

There are also $1.97 pumps in Hixson, Soddy-Daisy & Highway 153

Gas Buddy reports the most expensive gas in our area is at a station in Copperhill charging $3.19 a gallon.

They say the average price in Chattanooga now is $2.09.

AAA reports the average price in Tennessee right now is $2.26.
