Arrest Made in Connection to Fatal Spring Creek Road Crash
A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal single vehicle crash that occurred on September 25, 2025, on the 300 block of Spring Creek Road, the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) says.
This crash resulted in the death of Paula Soens.
They say Bernard was taken into custody in the Atlanta area on outstanding warrants for Vehicular Homicide, DUI, and related charges.
CPD’s Fugitive Unit, working with the U.S. Marshals Service, located and arrested him.
He is currently being held at the Clayton County Jail in Georgia and is awaiting extradition to the Hamilton County Jail.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) responded to a single vehicle crash in the 300 block of Spring Road on September 25, 2025 at 7:57 p.m.
A 60-year-old female passenger was killed as a result of the crash.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the Dodge Caravan was traveling north in the 300 block of Spring Creek Road at a high rate of speed when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered off the road striking a tree, CPD says.
The driver and passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The 53-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by Hamilton County EMS, CPD says.
The Chattanooga Police Department Traffic Unit conducted the investigation.
