Athens Man Sentenced to 10 Consecutive Life Sentences Following Child Sex Abuse Case
MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. — 29-year-old Kenterrius McGuffie has been sentenced to 10 consecutive life sentences without parole, with an additional 16 years in prison, which is one of the longest criminal sentences handed down in the State of Tennessee, according to the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference.
McGuffie pleaded guilty to a total of 27 charges:
13 counts of Aggravated Rape of a Child
12 counts of Especially Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
One count of Continual Sexual Abuse of a Child
One count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
“There are few crimes, if any, that destroy lives like sexual abuse of children. Innocence is killed in these children, and had this crime occurred after the law changed I would have sought the death penalty. “This case involved horrific sexual abuse that was not only committed but also filmed, and the sentence imposed reflects the horrible nature of the crime. Sexual predators in the 10th Judicial District will be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible, and this case should stand as a warning to anyone who would harm children in our community.”
– Gen. Hatchett said.
McGuffie was arrested in 2024, after agents first received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, concerning child sexual abuse material being uploaded by a Snapchat user, Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference said.
