Athens–McMinn tire recycling days offer free disposal for residents

The City of Athens, in partnership with McMinn County and local organizations, is hosting two free Tire Recycling Days this spring to help residents dispose of used passenger vehicle tires.

The events will take place on Saturday, April 25, and Saturday, May 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Athens Public Works Department, located at 219 Alford Street.

Residents of McMinn County are invited to bring up to 10 passenger vehicle tires per person for free disposal.

They say this initiative aims to reduce environmental hazards and promote a cleaner, more beautiful community.

Open to McMinn County residents only
Limit of 10 passenger vehicle tires per person
No farm, commercial truck, or off-road tires accepted
No tire dealers permitted
No rims allowed
