Authorities in Detroit seeking help in locating arson suspect
DETROIT, Mi. (WDEF) — Authorities in Detroit are seeking assistance in locating an arson suspect who is believed to be heading down south.
On August 15, 2024, at 1:43 p.m., a suspect walked up to a white 2018 Chevy Traverse in the parking of a Post Office located at the 17300 block of Harper.
The suspect proceeded to throw an object into the front passenger side window, breaking the glass.
Video captured the suspect pouring an accelerant inside the vehicle and then proceeding to set it on fire.
The fire caused an almost immediate explosion, damaging a total of six vehicles.
The Detroit Fire Investigation Division (DFID) describes this suspect as a heavy-set male.
He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white undershirt, and blue jeans.
DFID believes he is headed down south to either Tennessee or Texas.
