Authorities investigating inmate death at Hamilton County Jail
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating an inmate death that occurred early Friday morning.
On January 10, 2025, HCSO corrections officers were made aware of an unconscious inmate.
Floyd Zacharie
According to HCSO, this inmate had experienced a medical-related incident.
The corrections deputies immediately responded and administered medical aid until an ambulance arrived.
This inmate was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
A preliminary investigation revealed this inmate had a long medical history, and had recently refused treatment.
HCSO identified the inmate as Floyd Zacharie.
Zacharie was in custody for the following charges:
- Theft
- Criminal Trespassing
- Public intoxication
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
