Bad concert behavior harms famous artists

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) –Recent on-stage incidents are causing concern for musical artists and patrons.

Famous names like Harry Styles and Kelsea Ballerini are just two examples of artists getting hurt due to crowd behavior.

With ongoing concert incidents, it is important to ensure the safety of venues for concert goers and ultimately the artists.

The Barrelhouse Ballroom which opened in September of last year, has provided Chattanooga with ultimate entertainment from the same talent buyer who worked at Songbirds and Riverbend.

Their take on the issue is to stress the importance of safety procedures as well as responsible drinking.

With crowd concerns, security and barricades come into place to protect the safety of everyone involved.

“They think that if the artist somehow sees their phone or a piece of clothing thrown up on the stage, or something like that … they feel like they’re a part of the show. I think some people will take it a little too far …  It’s the sense of entitlement,” Media and Production Manager Bryan Kanispel said.

The ballroom’s first major security issue occurred in a recent show with Megan Moroney.

Moroney held the #1 song in on country radio with her single “Tennessee Orange.” She went to the venue at the end of June.

The venue took precautions in ensuring her safety during meet and greets along with stalker threats.

The issue of artist endangerment continues to present issues on social media.

With these concerns in place, it is important to be informed on venue policies as well as the well-being of the artist.
