Bama Hoping to Avoid 0-2 Start in the SEC as They Visit Georgia
Alabama is in uncharted waters as they head to Athens. If they fail to beat Georgia, they’ll fall to 0-2 in the SEC for the first time since 1990. It would also mark the first time the Tide has suffered two regular season losses since 2010. Regardless of the stats, the Tide knows beating the Dawgs will be daunting.
The last meeting between Alabama and Georgia was for the SEC title in 2012.
It was a rock-em, sock-em showdown.
Said Bama offensive lineman Ryan Kelly-"I remember that game being just pretty much a blood-bath. We were just going back-and-forth, back-and-forth."
The Tide expects another blood-bath on Saturday.
Said defensive back Cyrus Jones-"They try to beat you with their execution and their physicality on both sides of the ball. I think we’re just going to have to try to match that. I think the most physical team will come out on top Saturday."
Alabama’s calling card under Nick Saban has been their physicality, which the Tide hopes to demonstrate against Georgia.
Reporter-"Know that there is some intimidation factor with you guys, yet we are not necessarily seeing that so far."
Said Kelly-"You can’t just snap your fingers and go, we’re the best team in college football or we’re the most dominant offensive line in the SEC. It’s going to happen week-in and week-out. This is just another chance for us to become great as an offensive line and an offense in general."
Georgia has a dominant runner in Nick Chubb.
If he gets a 100-yards rushing against Alabama, he’ll tie Herschel Walker’s Georgia record with his 13th straight game 100-yard performance.
Said Bama head coach Nick Saban-"First of all, Nick Chubb is very strong, physical, fast, and explosive. He has got power. Don’t discount number one (Sony Michel) either. The next guy that comes in because he’s a pretty good player as well."
Saban says Georgia is more than just a good running team.
"Based on what they’ve been able to do in four games, I’m talking about a total, complete team."
