Baseball Pitches New Menu Items at the Ballpark This Year

(WDEF) – Restaurant News gets our tummy’s ready for the first day of baseball with a look at new food coming to ballparks this season from Aramark.

So let’s take a tour of some of the new hot dogs hitting stadiums across the country this season.

We begin in Denver, where the Colorado Rockies are offering a taste of Mexico at Coors Stadium.

The Taco Dog is a chorizo sausage with cheese, lettuce and some spice in the pico de gallo.

 

 Royals fans get a lot more variety this summer at Kauffman Stadium.

Check out the steak and cheese dog with a Philly cheese steak topping.

Travel Channel Chef Andrew Zimmern also contributed a Piedmontese Beef dog with minted cabbage slaw, a Cheddar Bratwurst with jalapeno jelly, a Chorizo Agrodolce with sweet pepper relish and an Italian Link with charred peppers.

 The new Phillies Frank at Citizens Ballpark is no cheese steak.

The new Philadelphia classic is a tribute to the city’s roast pork sandwiches.

It boasts roasted red peppers, sharp provolone and broccoli rabe.

 Pittsburg fans get a taste of Cuba at PNC Park.

And keep their cardiologists busy this summer as well.

The Pirates are offering a Cuban pretzel dog.

The footlong beef hot dog is topped with ham, pulled pork, swiss cheese, Dijon Mustard on a pretzel hoagie bun.

 North of the border, we have a Peameal Bacon Sausage.

The Toronto Blue Jays are offering it at the Rogers Centre.

It is made from a local variety of Canadian bacon, topped with caramelized onions and honey mustard on a cornmeal bun.
 

 But the most over-the-top concoction comes from Houston’s Minute Maid Park.

Astros fans get a Chicken and Waffle Cone.

The waffle cone is stuffed with mashed potatoes and fried chicken drizzled with honey mustard.
