Baylor Boys Advance to State Title Game With Semifinal Win Over Briarcrest

The Baylor boys basketball team beat Briarcrest 45-44 on Friday at Lipscomb University in Nashville to advance to the Division II-AA state title game on Saturday.

With the game tied at 44 in the final moments, Baylor’s Tre Jackson was fouled with less than one second on the clock. He made one free throw and missed the next as the Red Raiders sealed the one point victory.

Both teams struggled offensively in the second half. The Saints scored 16 points in the final two quarters, while the Red Raiders managed just 18 points. Baylor was 5 of 10 behind the arc in the first half, but they didn’t hit a three pointer in the second half. Randy Brady led the Red Raiders in scoring with 13 points while Patrick Urey added 10.

The Division II-AA state title game is scheduled to tip at 8:30pm est on Saturday at Lipscomb University. Baylor will face Brentwood Academy for the state crown.
