Baylor Faces Nemesis MBA in Quarterfinals of State Playoffs

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Baylor faces an old nemesis in the playoffs Friday in MBA.
Big Red has had the Red Raiders number, going 9-2 against Baylor since 2014.

Said Baylor running back Caleb Hampton:”It’s always been a physical game against MBA. We just need to be more physical.”
Be more physical and hang on to the football.
Baylor threw four picks in losing to MBA last month.
Said head coach Phil Massey:”And that’s where we feel like we were our worst enemy that particular game with the turnovers.”
MBA has been a playoff enemy, knocking Baylor out of the post-season the last two years.
Said Massey:”So this will be the third year we’ve matched up with them in the quarterfinals. Both of the previous games, we were ahead at half and ended up getting beat.”
Hampton:”That’s why our motto is finish, and I think that’s what our plan is this year is to finish through the whole game.”
Said defensive back Jermiah Skipworth:”I think it’s just the second half. We need to have the same energy as we have in the first half. I feel that will give us a great chance to win.”
Defensively, Baylor must deal with Big Red Q-B, Marcel Reed.
Said Massey:”Yeah he has been offered by Alabama. He’s a good player.”
Said Skipworth:”He’s a great player. He makes plays that you wouldn’t see out of other quarterbacks in our league.”
Said Massey:”He scored last year in the quarterfinal game that sort of turned the game at that points. It was a long. It was like a 55 or 60-yard run.”
Baylor would love to counter with some big runs of their own.
Said Hampton:”Their defense is very power-sturdy. They know what gaps to fill in and stuff like that. They know what they’re doing. We just need to come out there and pound the zone and work harder than them.”
