Baylor Golf Coach Gary Partrick Proud to See Four Alums on PGA Tour
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Baylor alums Harris English, Luke List, Keith Mitchell, and Stephan Jaeger are all playing in the Traveler’s Championship this week. Imagine how Baylor golf coach Gary Partrick feels with that many former players in one tournament.
Said Partrick:”There are a lot of really, really good players in this world, and for four of ours to make it to that level, it’s pretty special. I believe that four from a high school in one year on Tour is a first. I know that there are high schools that have had four, but not at one time. It’s really hard to grasp you know for somebody. I talked to a guy at the Pentagon in DC standing in line just two weeks ago. And he goes, well I’ve heard of all four of those. I said I hope you have. I do know there is an adjustment period. Warming up on the range with so-and-so beside you versus McIlroy, Tiger, and some others. There is an adjustment period, and they’ve all had to go through it. Well Harris and Stephan are big buddies, and then Keith and Harris both live in Sea Island, Georgia. We’ve been around Keith since sixth grade or I have been. Everybody liked Keith. He was our student body president. Every group or click. Everybody liked Keith. So Keith has always been able to fit in. But they’ve all got a drive, and they don’t get distracted very well. I remember asking Harris. I’m a North Carolina fan. He chose Georgia, who had like. They won the national championship and had everybody back. I went why don’t you go to Chapel Hill. He said coach I’m going to Georgia. He goes I’ve got to get better with better players. He knew exactly what he was doing. It is really a blessing to have had those kids here, and we cheer for them every week.”
