Baylor Looking to Return to State Final Four

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Baylor lost in the finals of the state championship game last season. While the Red Raiders lost some talent and even their long time head coach from last year, they’re now just one win away Saturday to returning to Nashville for the state Final Four.

Even though Baylor was his first ever high school coaching job, Mark Price felt good about the Red Raiders.
Said Price:”As I watched us practice and saw the skill level that our team had and the work ethic, I wasn’t surprised that we played well as a team. We were given ourselves a chance to win every night.
Baylor was winning every night, going 15-0 to start the year before reaching a 21-5 record going into the state quarterfinals.
Said forward Nick Kurtz:”We were on top of the world having a bunch of fun, and then it has been a little bit up and down lately, but I trust our team. I know we are going to end it good.”
Said Price:”I think we really made it a point of emphasis that we are not going to let any offensive struggles adversely affect our defensive effort and execution.”
Opposing defenses have a hard time with Baylor guard Beyuan Hendricks, the region player of the year.
Reporter:”Do you kind of feel that pressure at all when you are at there or do just go with the flow?”
Said Hendricks:”Not really. Just play my game. Try to win.”
Said Price:”He has played a lot of basketball. He has played a lot. Started as a freshman, so he’s a senior and that experience is valuable to our team.”
Hendricks is one of six seniors on the team.
Said Price:”Hopefully that’s an advantage that we’ve got. We’ve got guys playing every night that they go play now could potentially be their last. So we want it to last as long as it can for those guys.”
The Red Raiders travel to Memphis to face Christian Brothers on Saturday.
Said Hendricks:”Our goal is just to enjoy it and try to come out with the win.”
Said Kurtz:”Our drive is going to be a little rough. I know when we get there it’s going to be fun”
Said Price:”Our guys need to have the joy of competition, and they are going to get it on Saturday.”
