Baylor Receiver Amari Jefferson Named Mr. Football Award Winner
Nashville-(WDEF-TV) Baylor receiver Amari Jefferson and McCallie tight end Carson Gentle were finalists for the Division two Triple A Mr. Football award.
Jefferson was named the winner during a ceremony Tuesday at the Titans Nissan Stadium.
The Alabama commitment had nearly 900-yards receiving during the regular season.
Jefferson:”It means a lot. Both Caleb and Carson are good players. I mean they’re very well deserving of this award. I mean I’m excited to watch them in college. It was great competing against them this year. So just to be able to win it is very humbling. Yeah I think I had a great season. I mean I wanted to end it with a championship. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. To be able to win Mr. Football is a blessing, and I’m very thankful for it. Man it has been an exciting month. Had the championship game on Thursday. Now this. Then even the recent success Alabama has had. Being able to watch them and get to watch them in the playoffs. Then signing later this month. It’s going to be exciting. Then my birthday is this month too. I’m turning 18.”
