Baylor Swimmer Trey Freeman Sets New National Record
ORLANDO, FL- On Thursday evening at the 2015 NCSA Junior National Championships, Baylor School / Baylor Swim Club athlete Trey Freeman broke the 13-14 National Age Group (NAG) record in the 200 Long Course Meters freestyle. His time of 1:53.31, eclipsed the previous record (1:53.52) held by Tom Kremer which was set back in 2009. Kremer is currently a junior at Stanford University. He finished third in the 200 free at the NCAA Championships as a freshman and placed ninth in 2014.
The Baylor School freshman has had an outstanding meet thus far. On Tuesday, he broke the 13-14 Southeastern Swimming record in the 1000 free, swimming a time of 9:07.58. It was good enough for 6th place overall in the event. His time is the fastest 13-14 time in the country by thirteen seconds, and is the third fastest of all time. He had similar success in the 500 yard free, swimming at time of 4:27.52. His time also gets him the fastest time in the country for his age.
Freeman still has the 200 IM and 1650 freestyle that he will swim on the final day of competition. The NCSA Junior National Championships will wrap up on Saturday, March 21st.
