BBB warns of World Series Ticket Scams

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – Tickets to the World Series are selling out fast and everyone wants a spot to watch their favorite team.

But these kinds of events are a great opportunity for scammers to take your money.

The Better Business Bureau says it’s important to only purchase online tickets from legitimate websites and not Craigslist or Facebook.

It’s also a good idea to look over the site’s guarantees and protections before hitting the checkout button.

“We encourage everyone to use their credit card for payment whenever possible so that if there is an issue you have a better opportunity to work with your financial institution to dispute those fees. Unlock cash app or Venmo because unless you have that tied to a credit card once they take your cash it’s going to be really hard to cancel or void that transaction,” says Michele Mason, President of the Better Business Bureau.

The BBB says it’s also never a good idea to buy tickets from someone outside the stadium as those are most likely scams as well.
