Beaverdale Elementary back to class after morning gas scare
VARNELL, Georgia (WDEF) – Beaverdale Elementary is back in class after a precautionary evacuation Monday morning.
Administrators returned to school from the Thanksgiving break to find a strong smell of gas in the building.
Students were already arriving for the day.
So officials sent them back out to the buses to stay warm while the fire department investigated.
The smell was strongest near the cafeteria.
Officials found that a propane tank that was recently filled was now empty.
Workers fixed the problem, checked the air, and sent kids back to class.
No one was hurt.
