Benefit concert held for local man who died in tragic accident
DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) — The town of Dunlap hosted a benefit concert for a local man who recently passed away due to a tragic car accident.
Dominic Dariz was just 32 years old when he lost his life on July 27.
He left behind his fiancé and three young children.
Benefit organizer Trace Taylor said, “He was the same age as my son so I kind of gravitated and adopted him. He was such a great guy… Would do anything for anybody. When we heard the news, my first thought was, ‘What about those babies?'”
Taylor along with her husband started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the Dariz family after their tragic loss.
“The outpouring of love from Dunlap and all the sponsors we got for this has been absolutely incredible. I have met people that I’ve never met, and I’ve only lived here five years. We’re from Georgia. So, we adopted Dunlap and I’m telling you, this entire community has come together for us. And we couldn’t be more grateful, we really couldn’t. Because he deserves it. He was worth it. And we need to help his family,” Taylor said.
Community partners helped make the event possible.
“We’ve got live music today, we’ve got hamburgers and hotdogs out here, we’ve got door prizes. We’re trying to do all we can for these people. And Dunlap’s really good about getting together and taking care of their own,” owner of Castleberry Studios Ashley Perry said.
Today, they presented Dominic’s family with a flag that was signed in his honor.
“He would do anything for anybody. As his last, he was an organ donor. He went out helping someone else. That’s the person that he was and that’s how we want him to be remembered,” Transformation Project site manager Melinda Gates said.
The Dunlap community continues to raise funds for the Dariz family.
