My Best Me Health Tip – Glucose
Glucose is used to measure diabetic blood sugar which is why it’s important to know your glucose number. there are two ways to get this reading.
One is called the A1C and is determined by your doctor during regular periodic visits and during a physical. The other way to determine your glucose number is to check on a daily basis in the morning.
There are different ranges in the glucose reading. A good number for glucose is between 80 to 100. From 100 to 120 is the pre-diabetic range. You should notify your doctor if you’re in the pre-diabetic range. Over 120 is diabetic.
On the A1C scale from your doctor, below 5.7 is good. 5.7 to 6.4 is pre-diabetic. You are Type 2 diabetic if you’re above 6.4.
